Steve began his musical journey in the Lakewood City School system. There, he sang Bass with Roadshow, a Downbeat Magazine award-winning vocal jazz ensemble, sang Lead with the Men’s Quartet, and sang Bass with the Chamber Choir. Steve studied voice with Gerry Wondrak, John Drotleff and Norma Codispoti.
From there he went on to study voice at Cleveland State University with Eileen Moore. While at Cleveland State, Steve played saxophone with the CSU Jazz Ensemble before transferring to Mount Union College.
At Mount Union, Steve studied under saxophonist Daniel V. Carioti. He was also founding member of Four Guys with Ties, barbershop quartet. FGWT won the Johnny Appleseed District College Quartet Competition and placed second at the International College Competition for the SPEBSQSA, Inc.
Steve began his Top Notes career as Band Boy (3rd assistant to Jim Dudenheffer and Brian Annandono). After 3 years of begging, he was afforded an opportunity to play. Steve is now in his 12th year playing with the band.
